Fluorocarbon Leader 2lb to 22lb | 30M

Get more bites in clear UAE water with this fluorocarbon leader line. Fluorocarbon is almost invisible underwater, tough against rocks, reef and sharp teeth, and sinks faster than nylon – which is why it is the go-to leader material for anglers who fish the Gulf and the East Coast. Each spool holds 30 metres, and it is available from 2lb to 22lb so you can match the leader to your target fish and main line.

Why use a fluorocarbon leader?

• Low visibility – fluorocarbon's light-refractive index is close to water, so line-shy fish are less likely to spot it.
• Abrasion resistant – harder than nylon, it stands up better to rocks, oyster beds, pier pilings and toothy fish.
• Sinks naturally – denser than water, it helps lures and baits get down and stay in the strike zone.
• Low stretch – better sensitivity and more direct hook sets than a mono leader.
• Handy 30m spool – enough for many leader changes and easy to carry in your tackle bag.

Which strength should I choose?

• 2lb – 4lb: ultra-light and finesse fishing, small species and light rock fishing with tiny jigheads.
• 8lb – 12lb: everyday light-tackle and LRF fishing – bream, grouper (hamour), snapper and small trevally from the shore, pier or kayak.
• 14lb – 18lb: soft plastics, jigheads and small hard lures around rocks and structure; good all-round strength for estuary and inshore fishing.
• 20lb – 22lb: heavier inshore work – queenfish, larger trevally and fishing close to reef or breakwaters where you need extra abrasion resistance.

Tip: a leader of 1–2 metres joined to your braid with an FG or double uni knot is a good starting point. If fish are line-shy, drop a size; if you keep getting cut off on structure, go heavier.
